Sites in Conflict-Affected Countries Added to Unesco’s World Heritage List
Three sites were added through emergency procedures and placed on the World Heritage in Danger List, which now consists of six properties

Unesco’s World Heritage List has added 25 new properties this month, reports The Art Newspaper. These include sites in Iran, Lebanon and Palestine – among some of the most conflict-affected countries in the world.
Three sites were added through emergency procedures and placed on the World Heritage in Danger List, which now consists of six properties.
In Iran, Alamut Castle and its fortifications have been added to the list. In Palestine – despite objections from Israel – Sebastia, one of the West Bank’s most significant archeological sites, has been added to the World Heritage in Danger List. In Lebanon, the Mount Amel Castles have also been placed on this list using emergency procedures.
