V&A Storehouse Staff Vote Overwhelmingly in Support of Strike Action
100% of voters backed strike action concerning inadequate toilet and hydration breaks, with a total turnout of nearly 88%

Staff at the V&A Storehouse in east London have voted overwhelmingly in favour of strike action concerning working conditions at the new site, which opened in May 2025.
According to the trade union Prospect, collections access officers at the V&A Storehouse are denied adequate toilet or hydration breaks, which staff members in other areas of the organisation receive. The union also pointed out that many employees had been recruited from the local community – something that the V&A is proud of – but have been treated worse than their colleagues at other sites.
At V&A Storehouse, 100% of voters backed strike action, with a total turnout of nearly 88%.
The strike will take place in addition to other actions taken by staff across Victoria & Albert Museum sites, who on Wednesday also voted to strike over pay, working conditions and the museum’s lack of living wage accreditation.
