The Whitney Museum in New York has appointed Soyoung Yoon to direct its Independent Study Program (ISP).

Yoon was previously a member of the 2006–07 ISP cohort and worked there as a faculty member from 2012 to 2023. More recently, she has held a role as an associate professor of art history and visual studies at the New School’s Eugene Lang College of Liberal Arts, New York.

Her appointment to ISP occurs a year after its suspension following the dismissal of associate director Sara Nadal-Melsió, surrounding controversy over the Whitney Museum’s cancellation of a performance arranged by the 2024–25 ISP cohort.
