Eugenio Viola Appointed Director of the Madre Museum in Naples

Viola most recently acted as artistic director of MAMBO – Museo de Arte Moderno de Bogotá in Columbia, but left that job earlier this year alleging ‘deterioration of working conditions’

Eugenio Viola has been appointed director of the Madre Museum in Naples, where he was previously curator-at-large from 2009–2016.

Viola most recently acted as artistic director of MAMBO – Museo de Arte Moderno de Bogotá in Columbia, but left that job earlier this year alleging ‘deterioration of working conditions’.

In 2025 Viola curated the Bienal de Arte Paiz in Guatemala City and Antigua and in 2022 he curated the Italian Pavilion at the Venice Biennale.
