Dorothee Bielfeld has asked the Manifesta 16 biennial to remove an installation by Nasan Tur titled Elevation (2026), alleging that the artwork plagiarises her work Aufrichten (Raising Up) (2010), as reported by ArtNews

The work by Bielfeld was originally created for a cultural campaign in the Ruhr region, and consisted of a series of church pews placed upright. This is a similar format to Elevation, which incorporates pews engraved with anonymous statements collected from the community.

Manifesta 16 Ruhr is on view until 4 October across various locations.
