The 2027 Bukhara Biennial will be directed by architect and designer Kulapan Yantrasast, who will take over from the biennial’s previous artistic director, Diana Campbell.
Kulapat Yantrasast is the founder and creative director of WHY Architecture, a practice known for its collaborations with cultural institutions spanning Dib Bangkok (2025) and the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Michael C. Rockefeller wing in New York (2025).
The Bukhara Biennial was founded in Bukhara, Uzbekistan in 2025. It was developed by the Uzbekistan Art and Culture Development Foundation with its chairperson, Gayane Umerova, as commissioner. Its next edition will take place from 3 September to 21 November 2027.
